What to expect during Open Reduction Internal Fixation of a Carpal Bone Fracture

Open Reduction Internal Fixation of a Carpal Bone Fracture is a surgical procedure to fix a broken wrist bone. During the surgery, an incision is made, and the surgeon uses instruments to dissect down to the fracture while avoiding nerves and tendons. Once the fracture is well visualized, any loose pieces of bone are removed, and the fracture is fixated using pins/wires or plates and screws. Finally, the wound is closed, and a cast or splint is applied.
