Cast Padding

A roll of soft, felted 100% cotton padding, a few inches wide. It is usually nonsterile for tourniquet use; sterile rolls are also sold.

  • What it’s for

    Wrapped around the arm or thigh before a pneumatic tourniquet cuff goes on, to protect the skin under the cuff. It is put on before the prep, together with the tourniquet. Also used under casts and splints and in bulky dressings.

  • Lengths and variants

    Common widths are 2, 3, 4 and 6 inch rolls, about 4 yards long; nonsterile or sterile.
