da Vinci Instrument Release Kit
Also called Irk
A small reusable tool (described in the steps as a wrench) supplied free by Intuitive. It fits into an access hole on the top of a da Vinci instrument housing.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
Opens the jaws of an instrument stuck closed on tissue so it can be removed. Steps from Intuitive: press the Emergency Stop button; insert the tool into the access hole on the top of the instrument; rotate the wrench about a quarter turn so the jaws open; remove tissue from the jaws; remove the instrument; do not reuse that instrument.
