Also called Large needle driver, Large needle holder, SutureCut needle driver, Mega SutureCut needle driver
8 mm EndoWrist needle drivers for da Vinci X and Xi: a long black shaft with a white instrument housing and a wristed tip with short, strong, tapered jaws. SutureCut versions add scissor blades at the base of the jaws to cut suture.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
Holds the needle for robotic suturing. SutureCut drivers grasp needles and cut suture, which saves instrument exchanges, for example with interrupted sutures or vaginal cuff closure. In robotic gastric bypass the needle driver is swapped onto arm 3 in place of the energy instrument for suturing.
