Small ring-handled hemostatic forceps, about 5 1/2 in, with the jaws curved to the side rather than on the flat. The serrations are horizontal and run only halfway down the jaws; some have 1 x 2 teeth at the tip.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
Scalp hemostasis in craniotomy and shunt incisions: clamped onto the scalp edges (usually the lower edge) as the flap is lifted, then the handles are gathered and held with rubber bands. Also used to hold the dura out of the way. Raney scalp clips are the alternative.
