A small dental handpiece that holds a bur. This one is a contra-angle, bent near the head so the bur reaches the back of the mouth. Handpieces run on an electric motor or air.

Sizes & variants

High-speed handpieces run about 100,000 to 800,000 rpm with a water spray; low-speed handpieces about 6,000 to 10,000 rpm. Contra-angle handpieces are bent for hard-to-reach areas.
