What it’s for

Used when pulses cannot be felt: before the prep (for example to document both carotid pulses), on the skin below the surgical site, and with a sterile probe in the field to check flow in an arterial graftGRAFTTissue or a man-made material moved into place in surgery to replace or repair a damaged part.Full entry or whether the bowel's blood supply is intact after aortic surgery. Equipment lists include it for vascular bypass and other vascular cases, breast reconstruction and ear reconstruction.
Lengths and variants
Non-sterile probes for use on the skin; sterilizable probes and cords, or a sterile probe cover, for use on the field. Some units record the sound or show a waveform.
