  • What it’s for

    Holds and pours sterile fluids on the back table and measures them, such as saline for irrigationeer-ih-GAY-shunWashing out a wound, body cavity, tube or eye with a steady flow of liquid.Full entry or for mixing heparinized saline. It is one of the sterile containers in a basin set, along with basins, cups and trays. Device setups also use it, for example to soak an LVAD pump in 1 liter of sterile saline.

  • Lengths and variants

    Common sizes run from about 16 oz to 1 to 1.5 liters; reusable stainless steel or single-use plastic.
