Thin stainless-steel wires, smooth or threaded, with a trocar or diamond point on one or both ends. Diameters run from 0.7 to 1.6 mm (0.028 to 0.062 in).

Fixes small bone fractures, such as in the fingers, wrist and ankle, often placed through the skin. Also used for skeletal traction.
