A resectoscope electrode: an insulated wire that splits into two prongs at the working end, with a crescent-shaped wire loop between them.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
Resects and coagulates tissue through the resectoscope, as in TURP and TURB. In hysteroscopic myomectomy the loop shaves a submucous fibroid away in pieces; for endometrial resection a cutting loop is used in place of the ball electrode.
