Small round mirror on a thin stem. The one shown has a threaded stem that screws into a separate handle; one-piece mirrors also exist. Comes in several mirror sizes.

Primary uses

What this instrument is on the table to do.

Lets the surgeon see the teeth, gums, tongue, palate and cheeks. In an adenoidectomy it is used to look at the adenoids behind the soft palate.
