Roller Ball Electrode
Also called Ball loop electrode, Ball electrode
A resectoscope electrode: a long wire that splits into two insulated prongs at the working end, holding a small metal ball that rolls across tissue. Balls are about 3 to 5 mm, and a barrel-shaped roller is also made.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
Ablates and coagulates a larger surface of tissue through the resectoscope, such as the bladder wall or the endometrium. In hysteroscopic endometrial ablation the ball is dragged across the fundus from cornu to cornu, then over the uterine walls.

Ball or barrel style; 3-mm or 5-mm tip. Storz 27040N rollerball 3 mm and 27040NK rollerball 5 mm, both for a 24 Fr sheath; Storz 27040KG roller (barrel), 24 Fr; 22 Fr roller ball for hysteroscopic resectoscopes compatible with Storz or AED.
