Powers and controls the motorized shaver handpiece that spins arthroscopic blades and burrs to trim soft tissue and bone inside a joint, as in ankle, knee, shoulder and wrist arthroscopy. The surgeon runs it by a hand control on the handpiece or by the footswitch, setting speed and direction.
