Trial neck segments and trial heads that fit on the broach post (trunnion) left in the femur. Necks come in standard and high-offset versions for each stem size; head trials come in several diameters, each with 5 or 6 length options, color-coded.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
Trial reduction during total hip arthroplasty. With the final broach left in, the trial neck and trial head are put on the broach post, the hip is reduced and checked for stability, range of motion, leg length and offset. Different heads and necks are tried until it is right; the sizes are noted for the real implants.

DePuy Synthes ACTIS: standard and high-offset trial necks paired by stem size (for example 2010-02-100 STD NK SZ0/1, 2010-02-150 HIGH NK SZ0/1); femoral head trials in 28, 32, 36 and 40 mm, with lengths such as -2 (rust), +1.5 (green), +5 (brown), +8.5 (blue), +12 (black), +15.5 (natural); two diameter sets fit in the broach case.
