Ultrasonic Lithotripter
Ultrasonic lithotrite · Ultrasound lithotripter · Combined ultrasonic and pneumatic lithotripter · Dual-modality lithotripter · Swiss LithoClast Trilogy · CyberWand
A console with a handpiece, hollow metal probes that screw onto the handpiece, suction tubing to a collection canister, and a foot pedal. Combined units add a ballistic (pneumatic) action in the same handpiece and probe.

What it does, the lengths it comes in and what experienced techs know about it.
What it’s for
The main stone breaker in standard PCNL. The probe goes through the rigid nephroscope and touches the stone; the vibrating tip cracks the stone while suction pulls the pieces out through the hollow probe. In combined units the ballistic action breaks hard stones and the ultrasound action suctions the debris.
Lengths and variants
Probes come in several diameters, including small ones that fit a mini-nephroscope. The pictured Swiss LithoClast Trilogy (EMS, Boston Scientific) is a combined unit that uses one probe.
