Short tubular anal speculum with a slot along one side and a loop handle. A solid metal obturator with a rounded end fills the tube for insertion.

About 2 1/2-2 3/4 in (70 mm) long. Small about 22 mm and large about 30 mm across (Jarit, Aesculap). Replacement obturators are sold, some plastic (Jarit). Extra-long handle versions exist (Sontec).
