2 · The preceptor
Confirms it, no account
In the corridor, they scan the student's QR code with their phone camera and answer one question. They never see what the student claimed, so a disagreement stands out.

Approve or send back
The preceptor's answer and note sit on the case. Only approved cases ever count toward anything.
4 · The record
It counts itself
The same second: toward total cases, first scrubs and the general surgery cap at once, so a student who is short sees it months before graduation.
Scored the way your accreditor counts.
Pick your standard once. Each class can carry its own, for the year a standard changes under you. A minimum is met by reaching it, a cap by staying under it, and the record knows the difference.
- Only approved cases count. Pending and sent-back cases stay in the history, out of every total.
- A graduate's numbers never move. Nothing is recounted after the fact.

Students clock in and out of each shift on their phone. Turn on location and every punch is compared with the site. You decide how far away is too far.
- A punch is never refused. Anything odd is marked for you, not blocked.
- Clean shifts approve themselves, if you want them to.
- The original punch is kept beside every correction.
The whole record, in one download.
When a student finishes, or a site visitor asks, pull one workbook: a progress summary, every case they logged, their hours, and a tab for each specialty. NCCT programs get the official competency forms filled in too.
- It recalculates nothing, so the file and the screen can't disagree.
- Every row says who signed it, and when it was reviewed.

All 31 lab skill assessments in the Core Curriculum, 7th edition, are built in, 344 steps in all. Check students off on a tablet in the lab, and every attempt goes on their record with who checked it and when.
