An aortic cross-clamp on a 4 mm shaft that goes through a small stab in the chest wall. It has a fixed posterior prong and a mobile front prong.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
Minimally invasive (minithoracotomy) mitral surgery: passed through a 4 mm incision in the right third intercostal space to clamp the ascending aorta. The fixed prong goes through the transverse sinus behind the aorta and the mobile prong in front. The cardioplegia needle sits in the aorta on the heart side of the clamp.
