Connecting Screw, cannulated, short
Also called Connecting screw
A short cannulated screw with a round head, a smooth shank and a threaded tip that threads into the nail. The head has a hex recess with a slotted retaining collar, so it snaps onto the ball-hex tip of the T-handle screwdriver and stays on it.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
Locks the nail to the insertion handle. It is snapped onto the screwdriver, passed through the handle and tightened into the nail before insertion. It is retightened after hammering and before the aiming arm goes on. The compression screw passes through it. It is removed, with the aiming arm, before the end cap goes in.
