Cosgrove Flex Clamp

Also called Flexible arm Cosgrove aortic clamp, Cosgrove clamp

Primary uses

What this instrument is on the table to do.

Clamps the aorta or other large vessels during minimally invasive heart surgery. Cosgrove designed it to give more room through a hemisternotomy and to be less likely to be knocked loose; it gives full aortic occlusion through a ministernotomy and has been used for transthoracic aortic occlusion in mitral surgery. In total arch replacement it has been used to clamp the innominate artery while antegrade cerebral perfusion is set up.
