Three-flute calibrated drill bits for the nail's locking screws. The shaft is marked so the screw length can be read at the back of the drill sleeve. The 4.2 mm bit is used for 5.0 mm locking screws; the 3.2 mm bit is for the 4.0 mm screws in the distal holes of the 8 mm nail.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
Drills the locking-screw holes. Distally it is used free-hand under the image intensifier, lined up with a perfect-circle view of the nail hole; then it is detached and the direct measuring device placed on it to read screw length. Proximally it goes through the drill sleeve in the aiming arm and the screw length is read off the bit at the back of the drill sleeve.
