Edwards Crimper
Also called Crimper
A crimper made of a housing and a compression mechanism that is closed with a handle on the housing. It is used with a 2-piece crimp stopper that clicks onto its base and with the Qualcrimp crimping accessory.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
TAVR with the SAPIEN 3 valves: it squeezes the valve down to mount it on the delivery-system balloon. Order of steps: rinse the Qualcrimp in two saline bowls (at least 1 minute each); open the crimper fully and click on the crimp stopper; partly crimp the valve (not needed for 20 mm); place the Qualcrimp over the valve; put the delivery system's valve crimp section in the valve with the right orientation; crimp to the Qualcrimp stop; remove the Qualcrimp and its stop; crimp fully to the final stop and hold 5 seconds, three times; then load the valve into the flushed loader.
