Endplate Rasp
A long-shafted lateral spine rasp with a black handle and a small rectangular head that is toothed on both faces, used to shape and roughen bone at the endplates through a lateral retractor. The head is angled at the tip.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
Interbody fusion (lateral, XLIF and others): after the disc is cleared, rasps prepare the vertebral endplates for fusion by removing the cartilage without breaching the bony endplate. They are part of the intradiscal instruments in lateral access sets.
