Fansler Operating Speculum

A rectal (anal) speculum with a short, wide metal tube that has an open slot along one side, fixed at an angle to a long flat handle. A removable obturator with a rounded end fills the tube for insertion.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
Holds the anal canal open and exposes it past the dentate line for anorectal surgery such as hemorrhoidectomy. The obturator is taken out once the speculum is in.

The lengths, angles and patterns it comes in.
Slotted tube about 60 to 70 mm long and 25 to 38 mm across (a common size is about 60 x 35 mm). Short-handle and extra-long-handle versions are made, some with a light connection, and replacement obturators are sold.
