A corkscrew-tipped extractor that is screwed into the femoral head and pulled with a T-handle.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
Removing the femoral head (or the broken head and neck piece in a hip fracture) after the neck cut. It is drilled into the head and the head is pulled out slowly with the T-handle. Campbell notes it can be placed before the neck is cut.
