Flexible Medullary Reamers

Also called Flexible reamers, Intramedullary reamers

Official 1 photo

A flexible reamer shaft that takes interchangeable cutting heads in graduated sizes. It is cannulated and runs over the reaming rod into the bone canal.

Primary uses

What this instrument is on the table to do.

Optional reaming of the tibial canal for an intramedullary nail. Reaming goes in 0.5 mm steps, starting smaller than the measured canal, with the knee flexed and the fracture held reduced. The nail chosen is 1.0 to 1.5 mm smaller than the last reamer. TN-ADVANCED points to the DePuy Synthes reamer system's own instructions.

Sizes & variants

The lengths, angles and patterns it comes in.

Have 8 to 17 mm in 0.5 mm steps ready; the first is an 8 mm end-cutting reamer. Example from another maker: Smith & Nephew TRIGEN flexible reamer shaft 71118200 with front-cutting heads such as 9.0 mm (71118231).
