An 11-gauge bone access needle with a stylet that locks into its handle. Part of the KYPHON ELEMENT Osteo Introducer System; also sold separately with diamond, trocar or bevel tips.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
First step of bone access in kyphoplasty. Through a stab incision, the needle is held with the handle in the palm and advanced under imaging to the bone surface, then into the bone to the depth wanted with alternating clockwise and counterclockwise turns. The stylet is unlocked and pulled out, the blunt guide pin is passed through the needle, and the needle is removed over the pin.
