Kyphon Curette
Also called Kyphon Express Curette, Kyphon Latitude II Curette, Steerable bone curette
An articulating curette passed through the Kyphon cannula. It has a trigger handle with a lock and a degree indicator, a shaft with an exit marker, and a tethered tip (cone-shaped T-tip, or a narrow wedge tip on the Latitude II) that moves from 0 to 90 degrees.
Primary uses
What this instrument is on the table to do.
Scrapes and scores pockets of harder bone inside the vertebral body to help make the void, for example before the balloon in kyphoplasty. StatPearls notes a steerable curette with a directional cement cannula supports a one-sided (unipedicular) approach.
