Lateral Interbody Implant Inserter

Official 1 photo

The holder used to deliver a lateral lumbar interbody implant (spacer or cage) into the disc space. It belongs to the implant system in use; the sources do not describe its form.

Primary uses

What this instrument is on the table to do.

Lateral lumbar interbody fusion, after trialing. The chosen implant is packed with graft and advanced (gently impacted) between the vertebral bodies under AP and lateral fluoroscopy, with nerve monitoring running, until it rests on the dense apophyseal rims on both sides. In XLIF the implant is ideally centered side to side and placed between the anterior and middle thirds of the disc.
