Abbott's Model LT100 tester, used instead of hard or rigid instruments to move the leaflets of a Masters Series mechanical heart valve.

Primary uses

What this instrument is on the table to do.

Mechanical aortic or mitral valve replacement. After the valve is seated and the holder/rotator is withdrawn, the tester opens the valve so the surgeon can look for obstructing tissue and confirm free leaflet motion. Leaflet motion is checked again after the sutures are tied.
