A side-cutting bone bur for a drill: a long, narrow tapered head with spiral cross-cut flutes on a plain straight shank. The common size has a 1.6 mm head with a 9 mm cutting length and is about 44.5 mm long overall.

Medialization laryngoplasty (thyroplasty): after the cartilage window is marked, it is opened and removed with a #15 scalpel and a Lindeman drill.
