Pedicle Tap

Also called Bone tap

Official 1 photo

A threaded tap with millimeter markings along the shaft. Comes as a one-piece (monolithic) tap or as a modular tap that snaps into a ratcheting handle.

Primary uses

What this instrument is on the table to do.

Cuts threads in the pedicle track before a standard-tip pedicle screw goes in, to the depth of the chosen screw using the markings. Self-tapping screws do not need it. The track is felt again with the ball-tipped probe after tapping.

Sizes & variants

The lengths, angles and patterns it comes in.

Firebird modular taps 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, 8.5 mm (52-1024 to 52-1028); monolithic taps 52-1224 to 52-1228.
