A heavy clamp with a short jaw about one-quarter the length of the shanks. The jaw has longitudinal serrations along its full length and 1 x 2 teeth at the tip, and comes straight or angled.

Gives a firm grasp of short, thick tissue pedicles and is commonly used to clamp the uterine artery during hysterectomy. The abdominal hysterectomy tray carries six curved Phaneufs, 8 1/4 in.
