Suture Anchor Drill Bit and Drill Guide

Official 1 photo

A drill bit with a matching drill guide that come with a suture anchor system. Some systems use a cannulated drill passed over a guidewire.

Primary uses

What this instrument is on the table to do.

Makes the bone hole for a suture anchor. In a Broström ankle repair, the guide is set on the fibula and a 2 mm x 10 mm drill is passed; the anchor is then placed through the same guide. In a proximal hamstring repair, a pilot hole may be drilled in hard ischial bone before the anchor goes in.

Sizes & variants

The lengths, angles and patterns it comes in.

Sized to each anchor system, for example a 2 mm x 10 mm drill for a 2.6 mm FiberTak anchor (Arthrex), or a 3.4 mm cannulated drill over a guidewire before a 4.75 mm SwiveLock.
