A long, sound-shaped stainless steel guide: a straight shaft with a knurled handle ends in a curved tip that carries lengthwise suture grooves, four grooves set 90 degrees apart. It comes in 24 Fr and 28 Fr; a no-slip version adds three retractable gripping rods and three pairs of grooves.
Primary uses

In radical prostatectomy, after the dorsal vein complex is divided and the front wall of the urethra is cut, the urethral suture guide is pushed through the urethrotomy into the pelvis; then the back wall of the urethra is cut.
