What it means
Cells store and spend energy by moving phosphate groups. ATP (adenosine triphosphate) has three; when a cell uses energy it breaks one off, leaving ADP with two, which is then recharged. ADP also helps platelets stick together, and antiplatelet drugs such as clopidogrel work by blocking its receptor on platelets.
