What it means
The root in words about the back side. Dorsal means toward the back (its opposite is ventral, toward the belly). Dorsiflexion bends the foot up toward the shin, the dorsalis pedis pulse is felt on the top of the foot, and the dorsal recumbent position is lying on the back with the knees bent.
