What it means
The beginning of words about half of something. Hemiplegia is paralysis of one side of the body, hemiparesis is weakness of one side, and a hemisphere is half of the brain. Hemianopia is loss of half of the field of vision. A stroke on one side of the brain often causes hemiplegia on the opposite side of the body.
