What it means
One of the five classes of antibodies (IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG and IgM). Very little of it floats free in the blood. Most of it sits on the surface of young B cells, white blood cells that make antibodies, where it acts as a receptor that recognizes an invader and helps switch the B cell on.
