What it means
The rate unit used on infusion pumps and in IV orders. To find it, divide the total volume by the number of hours: 1,000 mL over 8 hours runs at 125 mL/hr. Write the unit as "mL" with a capital L; ISMP lists a lowercase "ml" as error-prone.
In a chart
"0.9% sodium chloride infusing at 75 mL/hr via left forearm IV."
