What it means
Read it from context. In a medicine order, PR means the drug is given rectally, as a suppository or enema. On an electrocardiogram, the PR interval is the time from the start of the P wave to the start of the QRS complex, normally 0.12 to 0.20 seconds. PR can also mean pulse rate.
For the nurse
If the meaning of PR in an order is not clear, clarify it before giving the drug.
