What it means
An everyday word that appears in exam questions about emergencies and delegation: the nurse summons help, summons the rapid response team, or teaches a client to summon the nurse with the call light. It means to call someone to come, not to go and get them yourself.
In a chart
"Client found unresponsive; nurse stayed with the client and summoned help with the emergency call button."
