What it means
Members help each other by talking about what they are going through. Examples are groups for cancer, diabetes, grief, addiction recovery (such as Alcoholics Anonymous) and family caregivers. They may meet in person or online, and are often led by peers or a trained leader.
For the nurse
Offer information about local and online groups as part of discharge teaching, especially for new diagnoses, long-term illness and caregivers.
