What it means
A ringworm-type fungus grows in warm, damp skin, usually between the toes. The skin itches, cracks, peels or becomes scaly. It spreads on damp floors such as locker rooms and showers, and through shared towels and shoes.
For the nurse
Teach clients to dry well between the toes, change socks daily, wear sandals in shared showers and use the antifungal for the full time ordered. Clients with diabetes should report cracks or sores on the feet.
