What it means
A set of three. In medicine it usually names three findings that together point to one condition, often named after a person. Cushing's triad is high blood pressure with a widening pulse pressure, a slow heart rate and irregular breathing. Beck's triad is low blood pressure, muffled heart sounds and swollen neck veins. Virchow's triad is slow blood flow, injury to a vessel wall and blood that clots too easily, the three things that lead to clots.
