What it means
A flat pad with an absorbent top and a waterproof backing, disposable or washable, often called a "Chux." It is placed on the bed or chair under a client with incontinence or drainage, or under a body part during a procedure.
For the nurse
Use as few layers as possible: stacked pads and linens trap moisture and heat and weaken the pressure relief of special mattresses. Change a wet or soiled pad promptly and clean and dry the skin.
