What it means
A volunteer panel of experts in prevention and primary care. It grades each preventive service, such as cancer screening, blood pressure checks or counseling, from A and B (recommended) through C, D (recommended against) and I (not enough evidence). Under US law, most insurance plans must cover A- and B-graded services without a copay.
For the nurse
Nurses use USPSTF recommendations to teach clients which screenings are due for their age and risk.
