What it means
An everyday word that appears in safety and infection-control questions. Ordinary waste such as paper, packaging and clean gloves goes in the wastebasket. Used needles and other sharps go only in a puncture-proof sharps container, and items soaked with blood or body fluids go in a red biohazard bag as the facility directs.
