BD

Twice a day: a dosing abbreviation from the Latin bis die, used mainly outside the United States.

bee-dee (said as letters) abbreviation

What it means

A frequency used in prescriptions in the United Kingdom, Australia and other countries. US orders write BID for the same thing. It means two doses a day, usually about 12 hours apart.

For the nurse

If an order uses a short form you do not recognize, ask before giving the drug. Writing "twice daily" in full avoids confusion.
