What it means
Vaginal childbirth happens through labor, which has four stages: the cervix opens to 10 cm (first stage), the baby is born (second), the placenta comes out (third), and the first hours of recovery (fourth). A cesarean birth delivers the baby through a cut in the abdomen and uterus.
